The interface is extremely simple. If you can see a file, Free Music Zilla has found something. Because many video sites don’t call files by artist name an so on, sometimes it’s hard to see if the file is the one you want, but downloading is painless, so you can always check and rename later.

In its preferences you can choose which browsers Free Music Zilla should monitor, where to put downloaded files, and whether it starts on startup, minimizes to system tray, etc.

Free Music Zilla is a very basic downloader, but it’s effective when it works! It’s a shame it no longer functions with Last.fm or MySpace, but there are still many other sites where it’s useful.

With iCopyExpert you can read the contents of your iPod and transfer any song from the device to the computer, saving it to a specific folder or directly to your iTunes library.

iCopyExpert has a very simple interface, and simple features as well. Once you plug your iPod, the program will display its contents on the main interface area, and a list of categories (playlists, albums and artists) on the left sidebar. Transferring songs to the computer with iCopyExpert is as easy as selecting them with the mouse and clicking the corresponding button on the top toolbar – or using the context menu.

myPortablePIM is a surprisingly feature rich agenda that doesn’t require installation and can be run from a USB memory stick or any other portable device. It includes a calendar, a task list, a contact manager and tools to handle quick notes and alarms. All the included functions in myPortablePIM are very easy to configure and use.

Besides these basic features, myPortablePIM also has other more original functions, such as a program launcher, an RSS feeds reader, a weather forecast utility and a tool to remotely access your Gmail inbox.

It all seems very promising in myPortablePIM: a portable information manager you can run from a simple USB key, with lots of interesting tools. But unfortunately myPortablePIM is let down by its incredible memory usage – enough to freeze an older PC.

When you download Windows Password Unlocker, you’ll see four separate parts - BurnCDCC, Help and an ISO file. You’ll also need a blank CD. Start by opening up the help document, because you’ll need to follow the instructions closely.

Predator turns any USB memory device into a key that blocks access to your computer. How does it work? Predator creates a special key in your USB drive, and then sits in the system tray while monitoring it. The key is renewed every few seconds for more effective protection.

The interface is organized simply, although a lot of information is held in it. On the left is a long list of types of report SIW can make, and it really is exhaustive. From detailed Operating System information, to accessibilty, installed apps and passwords - all the software aspects of your PC are covered.

Hardware and network reports are are also available, starting with a system summary, plus more in depth specific reports on everything that makes up your PC, and its connections.

SIW is a very technical application. Some of the information will be meaningless to non-tech savvy people, and the app offers no help with this. Technicians may find the wealth of information SIW offers useful to have at hand, and the availability of a portable version means it can be carried around as part of a USB toolkit.

SIW will open up your PCs secrets, but you’ll need advanced technical knowledge to understand all of it!

Now, before you all stop reading to go and hit the Download button, be aware: this is not a standard web browser. Internet Explorer 9 Platform Preview is just a very early version which allows developers and web designers to test their apps and websites within the new browser’s environment.

That said, the new Internet Explorer 9 looks very promising. It features a much faster JavaScript engine (using multiple cores simultaneously), works with HTML5 for a lighter and richer web experience and makes a giant leap in standards compliance with support for CSS3. The Acid3 test results, however, fell a bit short of expectations at 55/100, though they’re still better than Internet Explorer 8.

Technical details aside, Internet Explorer 9 Platform Preview is more of a playground to test new features rather than a real IE9 demo. After installing it, you’re taken to a test drive webpage where you can try out the new capabilities of Internet Explorer 9 with demos, animations, online maps, games and other testing material especially prepared by Microsoft. Some of them are really fun, like the T-Shirt Designer or the SVG-oids (Asteroids clone).

In short, Internet Explorer 9 is still at a very early stage of development. However, it’s nice to be able to have a peek at the new features and follow all the changes and updates. According to Microsoft, there’s going to be a new preview every two months, so keep tuned!

Downloadr is a really simple app that lets you browse Flickr photos and download their large-size versions in a very comfortable way. It doesn’t require a Flickr account to use – though you get extra functionality if you have one - and it works like a charm, despite still being a beta version.

Using Downloadr is very easy. Start by searching photos using either tags, text strings or the user name, browse the results on the right side pane and select the images you want to download with the mouse. You can select multiple images simultaneously (using the Ctrl key) and preview any of them in a separate window with a double click.

Downloadr includes all the information available for the images on Flickr, from the title to the EXIF technical data. If you have a Flickr account, you can also create a backup of all your photos in just a few clicks.

This interesting tool allows you to take various documents, such as text, PDF, images and XPS, edit them and combine them into one single document. This document can be saved as either PDF or XPS, and can be protected with various security and encryption options.

gDoc Fusion works using drag and drop, which makes things really easy. You open the documents you want to use, drag them over to gDoc Fusion and they are ready to edit. You can view each document separately in the tabs under Page View or as a whole under Document View. Editing options include the ability to modify text and add notes, comments and bookmarks, as well as rotate pages, erase them, insert pages and crop. When you are happy with the final document, you can either save or print.

The lack of multiple output formats does make gDoc Fusion feel a little limited. There are also a lot of nag screens, which was irritating. Beyond this, however, gDoc Fusion was easy to use and produced quality results, as well as having a number of nice features such as the security options.

gDoc Fusion is a great tool, especially for producing reports and other documents to be shared.
